- five days of amazing adventures
As regions such as Lofoten and Geiranger are getting over-run by mass-tourism, Helgeland is still blissfully quiet. Here the Samis are still herding their reindeer, and the rivers are still flowing freely from mountain to sea. The fjords are remote, and the hikes un-disturbed by infrastructure and hords of hikers. In short - we live in Paradise and we can not wait to share it with you!
This trip is designed to let you experience the highlights of our region, with fun and safe activites ranging from sea to the mountain. We will sleep comfortably every night, but in a wide range of accomodations such as hotels, guest-houses and wilderness camps with lavos (the Sami teepee). Depending on the group size we will either use a mini-bus or a car to move in between. The nice thing is that nothing is far away in Helgeland - making sure we do not waste much time sitting inside a vehicle!
Meeting at 09.00 in the morning in Grane bygdetun. We start with a full day of whitewater rafting on the Austervefsna river. The trip includes a basic river-side lunch. This evening we will sleep comfortably inside a beautiful lodge called "Ute på Neset" just outside of Trofors. Dinner will be prepared and eaten together at the lodge.
We go to one of the iconic hikes of the region - Hattfjellet. The peak provides a stunning view of the surroundings, with lakes and glaciers spread out in the distance. We bring our own lunch pack that we eat during the hike. The evening will be spent at Strandli gård, a beautiful mountain farm known for their home made food, and especially their cheese which one a bronze medal at the last World Championships in 2018. Dinner will be prepared by the owners of Strandli.
This day is dedicated to show you the amazing history of the region, and to watch some spectacular scenery up close. We will hear about how the timber used to get rafted down the wild rivers of the area, how the Samis herd their reindeers and see some old teqhniques still used today to catch them, and we will take a look at Laksforsen, North-Europes biggest waterfall. We will stay in Havblikk camping in Nesna, getting ready for an amazing day on the ocean. Dinner will be prepared together.
We go sea kayaking in the archipelago in the Nesna region, and area world-famous for stunning views and nature. Our partner is "Hav og fritid", and they will provide us with necessary gear and guiding for an amazing time outside. We return to Trofors this evening, and have a unique experience as we sleep in comfortable, heated lavos (teepees) in our wilderness camp. We will serve a good dinner prepared in camp, introducing you to local food and company.
On our last day we will spend half the day kayaking on the river, getting comfortable in our own vessel as we move downstream through waves and current. After lunch we will go for a last hike together in the area, utizling the old mountain trail from the ancient farm Stavassgården, leading down to the town of Trofors. It is an estimated 3 hours to hike in easy terrain, with great views of the mountains and valley.
In the early evening we say good-bye to the group.
